TCB Review:
From the outside, the Little Oven says "regular ol' pizza joint”. And while it’s no dive, the inside atmosphere is that of a stereotypical Italian-American casual diner, complete with dark wood grains, vinyl fruit and berry print table cloths and generic landscape pictures on the walls. Indeed, none of it is anything that would lead you to believe breakfast was a priority here. The only clue that the Little Oven is a breakfast sanctuary that fronts as a pizza joint is the perpetual stream of patrons buzzing in and out every morning. Even though it isn’t very well-known, any self-respecting East-Sider knows & loves the place, and for good reason, décor aside.

The menu is large, with the usual fare enhanced with variations that will get the most fickle excited about breakfast again. Most importantly – from the pancakes (although “the biggest cakes in town” is debatable) to the Clubhouse Omelet (turkey, ham, bacon, tomatoes, cheese & hollandaise) – it may be hard to decide, but any way you choose you won’t go wrong. On last visit, I was served a plate of Italian hash & eggs that, in presentation and taste, can best be described as beautiful, with a perfect mix of grated potatoes, chucks of spicy Italian sausage, green peppers and grease.

Additions to the menu are common, (as of this writing they are serving a heart-stopping bacon wrapped sirloin steak & eggs special) along with their regular weekday specials, which include complimentary juice and coffee. If you are short on cash, you might find this a handy bonus, as they don’t accept credit cards.

My first time there was over this weekend. Very good bill of fare. Had "Joe's Eggs", scrambled eggs à la Italia: eggs, green peppers, red peppers, onion, and Italian sausage. Also included crisp bacon, and several portions of toasted Italian bread. Wonderful portion size. More than enough to fill me up, and then some. Good coffee too. Would have liked some cream. Decent service, but could have been taken care of better. Didn't ask if I wanted cream w/ my coffee, or come around much in the hour I was there. Ah well. They were busy. Happy to get my food quickly, and the check quickly when I needed it. All over, very good. 4 out of 5.

My first time visiting today and it was great! Prices are good and the food was very good. I was afraid it was going to be greasy and it wasn't at all. I want to go back and try something else.

This was our first time for breakfast here and we were really impressed! The prices are very reasonable and the food and service was excellent! I had the standard 3 egg breakfast and the hubby had steak & eggs. We will definitely return there soon. The best part is that we were there early enough on a Sat. to beat the rush!!! :)
