TCB Review: If ever there was such a thing as a biker breakfast joint, The Flameburger of Columbia Heights would be it. With it's short and sticky menu, sassy hurry-up-and-order waitresses, burned coffee, and a permanent cloud of smoke hovering overhead, this place is a glowing beacon for the no-fuss, hardcore breakfast junkie (ironically, it has inadvertently become an annual Easter Sunday tradition for me and my lady friend).
The food at this 24/7 greasy spoon is nothing special, but it will get to your table quicker than you're able to read through the only 3 good comics left in the Sunday Star Tribune. There is also plenty of space at the counter for you to set up shop where one of the griddle cooks is more than happy to chat it up as he slings your eggs and browns (the other griddle master just holds a mysterious, pensive, and stoic gaze off into the distance like there was no one else around - as if remembering his days back in 'Nam).
Really, the most important message I can convey to you about The Flameburger is the same theory I have on White Castle... you gotta try it at least once.

From: Kevin 05/18/2007 | 4 of 5 Huevos | I was first introduced to Flameburger at its original location at Larpenteur and Snelling in Falocn Heights when I was over 45 years ago kid. On special Saturadays my dad would take us to the "Flame" for their great flame broiled burgers and oversized portions of what I still consider the best, albeit highly caloric, hashbrowns in the world. Always crisp and brown on the outside with a soft buttery inside. Great food that has been consistantly cooked over the years by a series of highyl trained spatula wielding charmaster/frycooks. I highly recommend a trip to the "Flame" and take your kid.
